Springing Into Action… Slowly

Spring is around the corner, or at least in Ohio, and today is a perfect 60+ degrees. This is the kind of weather that tempts motorcyclists and motorheads alike to blow out the cobwebs from their tail pipes and take a quick spin down the road. Which is both impossible and unnecessary for me to do. Impossible, because the bikes are currently still under the knife, in the Goose’s case in prep for the knife. Unnecessary, since the Monster just got a brand new (read: eBay) set of Termi aluminum race cans. Errr… I mean ’street legal’ cans. Right… Hopefully in a month I’ll have everything tacked back up and ready to ride, because by that time the season will be open. So check back in a few weeks for another update… maybe two!

Here in north Italy season is coming good in this days.
Bikers are the same in all over the world, during winter modifications and restiling waiting for the sun !
Nice your cans, you’ll hear what a wonderfull sound !
A question : whi do you hawe a so big rear brake disk ?

Roberto,

No need to apologize. Hopefully the Monster will be back together this weekend. I was trying to convert to a dry clutch. Once I was in the engine, I realized I’d need a new transmission shaft for it to be long enough to attach the clutch. Some day I’ll get another Ducati and it can have a dry clutch. :]

Anyhow, the rear brake is as large to make it more ‘Monsterish”. The front is for a Buell and is quite large, so I decided to make the rear large as well. I know the 620 isn’t a Superbike, but I wanted to make it my own.

It’s almost spring here, I bet Borgo Panigale is beautiful to ride around! :]

Joel,

You’re attracting international attention now – sweet!

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to join you on the Athens roads sooner rather than later. Of course, with those racing “street legal” cans you’ll probably dust my poor 700cc Shadow.

This coming winter I’m planning on taking the bike apart and making some mods / general maintenance stuff. I’ll probably have to custom-build some parts (forward controls, maybe rake the front end a little bit, add custom highway bars) because Honda doesn’t make anything that will work. Any help you could give would be most appreciated.
